What are the benefits of my institutional membership?
Your Institutional membership provides a variety of benefits to your institution and your staff on campus. This includes a complimentary membership for your Voting Delegate, a discount on individual memberships for all staff on your campus, and additional discounted pricing on different NASPA initiatives such as Certified Peer Educator products, NASPA Advisory Services and Culture of Respect Collective among others. Does my institutional membership grant memberships to all staff on my campus?
Individual and institutional memberships are not the same. Your institutional membership grants a complimentary membership for your Voting Delegate. One of the best benefits of the institutional membership is that your staff on campus can join at a highly subsidized rate. Please click here to learn more about individual memberships and options.
How are my institutional membership dues calculated?
Institutional dues for institutions in the United States are based on data reported Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) each year. To view our dues matrix, please click this link to review. Note that for international institutions the membership is a set rate instead. You may also e-mail us at membership@naspa.org if you have further questions regarding your dues.
Are my institutional dues the same each year?
Institutional dues will vary slightly from year to year based on updated reporting from IPEDS and updates to our dues matrix. Near the end of the membership term (typically April/May) we will send you an updated invoice showing your dues for the upcoming fiscal year.
Can I renew early or renew for multiple years at a time?
Renewals typically take in April/May near the end of the fiscal year. We currently only allow for institutional renewal one year at a time. If you have concerns about this specifically or need to renew early, please e-mail us at membership@naspa.org and we will be happy to assist you.
When does my institutional membership expire?
Your institutional membership runs from July 1st through June 30th of the current fiscal year. Please note that individual members on your campus have Membership Terms based on the calendar month they purchased their membership in and may expire in a different month.
Is there a limit to how many individual members my campus can have?
There is no limit to how many individual memberships can be purchased on a campus. If you are needing assistance with purchasing multiple individual memberships, please reach out to membership@naspa.org for assistance.
Who should the Voting Delegate on my campus be?
The Voting Delegate on your campus is typically your seniormost student affairs officer (SSAO) on campus. If you need assistance in designating or updating your institution's Voting Delegate, please reach out to membership@naspa.org for assistance.
Our current Voting Delegate is no longer with our institution, and we have an interim SSAO for now. What should we do until we have a new SSAO?
If you are currently searching for a new SSAO and have someone serving in an interim role they can be designated as the interim Voting Delegate. Please note that the complimentary Voting Delegate will go to them until they are removed as the Voting Delegate. If they already have an individual NASPA Membership and would like to keep their membership, please let us know. Once they are no longer the interim Voting Delegate they will need to purchase an individual membership.
Can I have someone assist me in managing the membership?
Yes! You can designate one or more individuals to assist in managing your institutional roster and membership as a proxy The proxy must have a NASPA account and list your Institution as their primary affiliation. Please note that the proxy does not receive a complimentary membership. If your proxy wishes to join as a member they will need to purchase an individual membership.
I'm trying to join as an individual member but it's only giving me an option to renew the institutional membership. What can I do?
Unfortunately due to how our system is set up anybody designated as the Voting Delegate or proxy will only be given the option for the institutional membership. If you are a proxy wishing to get an individual membership we will be happy to help you set that up. If you are a Voting Delegate wanting an individual membership after your institutional membership has lapsed we can also help you set that up as well. Please contact us at membership@naspa.org for assistance.
